Holy Mother’s Birthday

The Vedanta Center of Greater Austin celebrated Holy Mother Sarada Devi’s 160th birthday on Sunday January 6, 2013 at 13508 Broadmeade Avenue, Austin. About 50 devotees were in attendance. A local priest performed the puja and arati.
The center was opened by Swami Swahananda, the spiritual leader of the Vedanta Society of Southern California on October 13, 2012.
The mission of the center is to provide a venue for all to seek self-realization and attainment of God consciousness by following the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda and the Vedanta philosophy.
The center holds regular study circles to discuss Vedanta philosophy on alternate Sundays from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The center is open to all irrespective of religious beliefs. The center also performs social service for disasters and organizes regular food donations to the needy.
