When was the last time you sat down with your grandparents without checking your phone? Life gets busy. Meetings, deadlines, errands, traffic.
And somewhere in the middle of all that, we forget the presence of our aging parents or grandparents at home. They may not ask for much, but deep down, they hope for one thing: your time.
They won’t always say it out loud, but loneliness is real. While we’re busy running around, they’re often waiting either for a phone call, a chat over tea, or just a smile. Hence, here are five simple ways to remind them they matter every single day.
Give them your undivided time
It could be just 15 minutes a day. Sit with them. No phones, no distractions. Let them talk about their day, their memories, even the same stories you’ve heard before. The joy of being heard is priceless to them.
Teach them something new
Maybe it’s how to use WhatsApp, play music on YouTube, or send an emoji. It’s not about the app; it’s about making them feel included in today’s world. You’ll be surprised how eager they are to learn.
Let them be a part of your routine
Take them along for a walk, invite them while cooking, or ask for their opinion on a new outfit. Inclusion makes them feel valued and involved, not just observers in your life.
Celebrate small occasions

Not every day has to be a birthday. Celebrate their favorite festival, the day they retired, or the anniversary of a special memory. These thoughtful moments tell them you care.
Write them a note
A handwritten letter, a sticky note saying “Thank you for the tea,” or a framed photo with a message. These gestures stay with them long after the moment has passed. (ANI) (Courtesy: https://indiawest.com/)
