Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ Continues Magnificent Run, Collections Go Past The ₹500 Crore Mark

‘Jailer’ opened to positive reviews on 10 August, taking a strong opening and making a whopping ₹33 crores on the first day.

Sun Pictures, which produced director Nelson Dilipkumar’s action entertainer Jailer (2023) featuring Tamil superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, has confirmed that the film’s gross collections have gone past the ₹500 crore mark.


Taking to social media platform X, Sun Pictures put out a poster saying the film had collected over ₹525 crores. “Total gross collection crosses historic ₹ 525+ crores,” the poster read.


Sources in the industry said that the film was continuing its strong run well into its third week. Sources pointed out that the film was holding on to more or less 75 percent of its releasing screens.


Meanwhile, the unit of Jailer held a party to celebrate the film’s massive success. Almost all unit members, including director Nelson and actor Rajinikanth, attended the party.

A strong opening


The film, which opened to positive reviews on 10 August, took a strong opening with its overseas distributor Ayngaran International confirming that the film had made a whopping ₹33 crores on the first day.


“Elated to announce that the First Day Overseas Collection of Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer released through Ayngaran has crossed ₹ 33 crores, the highest in the history of the Superstar’s career. We will continue to break all records this weekend,” Ayngaran International said.


The film had an emphatic opening weekend, with collections crossing the ₹ 150 crore mark in the first two days.


Apart from Rajinikanth, the film also features Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar, Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, Telugu actor Sunil, Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, Mirna Menon, Tamannaah, Vasanth Ravi, Naga Babu, Yogi Babu, Jaffer Sadiq and Kishore among others.


It has music by Anirudh and Vijay Kartik Kannan cranked the camera.
