‘Premiere With A Purpose’ Featuring Anupam Kher Brings Spotlight To Education And Empowerment In Austin

By Staff Reporter

An afternoon of cinema met a cause for change as the nonprofit HC4A (Hindu Charities for America) hosted “Premiere with a Purpose” in Austin, featuring legendary Indian actor Anupam Kher. The event, held at the Galaxy Theatre, on June 21, Saturday brought together community members, philanthropists, and film enthusiasts to support vocational education for underserved students across Central Texas.

The centerpiece of the evening was the screening of Tanvi The Great, a socially driven Hindi film starring Kher, followed by a moving dialogue between the actor and audience.

Speaking with candor and warmth, Kher shared personal anecdotes and emphasized the power of resilience, education, and storytelling to transform lives.

“This is not just about a film,” Kher told attendees. “It’s about igniting hope—and giving every young person a fair chance at success.”

The event drew an enthusiastic response, with attendees praising both the cinematic experience and its underlying mission. “This was a beautiful blend of culture, purpose, and community action,” said Alok Singh, HC4A Board President. “It’s inspiring to see art being used as a catalyst for change.”

Funds raised during the evening will directly support HC4A’s scholarship programs, which enable students from low-income families to pursue vocational training and career-ready certification.

According to the organization, more than 800 students have benefited from the Scholarship program since its inception.

For HC4A, the premiere marked another step in a broader journey. “We believe education is the most powerful equalizer,” said founder Harish Kotecha. “And when someone like Anupam Kher lends his voice to that mission, it amplifies our reach in ways we couldn’t imagine.”

As the credits rolled and lights came up, the message was clear: in the right setting, a film can do more than entertain — it can empower, inspire, and build a bridge to a brighter future.
