balakn2

Swami Vivekananda was a 19th century visionary and a philosopher who introduced Yoga to the US in 1893. Vivekananda Yoga University (VaYU) is founded on the same principles of universal welfare that Swami Vivekananda envisioned. VaYU, the world’s first Yoga university outside India, established in the USA, is devoted to holistic yoga education and research, and offers online graduate programs (MS, Ph.D., and MS/Ph.D.) centered on evidence-based, modern scientific approach to the ancient Indian science and practice of Yoga.

Vision: To build a healthy, harmonious world through holistic Yoga.

Mission: To create a Yogic life path for the welfare of humanity.

5 Things to know about VaYU’s MS Yoga Program.

1) VaYU’s MS Yoga Program: VaYU launched its Online Master of Science (Yoga) program licensed by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE), State of California in Fall 2020. The Online MS (Yoga) program is led by some of the most experienced faculty in the world with over 650 years of combined research and teaching experience. Currently VaYU has 31 Alumni and about a 75-student (MS/PhD) ecosystem.

2) Eligibility: One simply needs a bachelors’ degree (4-year degree in the US) to join VaYU’s Masters Program. 30-credits (10 courses) over 4 semesters include three specializations: Yoga Therapy, Yoga Philosophy and Yoga Research. New enrollments are admitted in Fall and Spring.

No background in Yoga is required. Every odd semester, VaYU students participate in a week-long PCP (Personal Contact Program) at the LA low residency campus to hone in on the practice, meet fellow students and faculty. VaYU’s student population comes from all walks of life and from various parts of the world (US, Canada, Netherlands, UK, Brazil, China, Qatar, India).

3) First batch of 28 graduated in June 2022 with much fanfare in Cerritos, CA.

4) Accreditation and Value: VaYU’s MS Program’s therapy track has been accredited by International Association of Yoga Therapists towards a C-IAYT (Certified International Yoga Therapist) credential as of May 31st, 2023. If you already have a C-IAYT or a YA RYT certification, you may receive some transfer credits (Maximum 6 credits) and your MS degree along with Vocational certifications make you very marketable in a clinical, academic or research setting with a dignified professional career.

5) Enrollments: Spring 2025 semester starts January 13th 2025 and VaYU is ready to welcome new students for both MS and Ph.D. programs. Work-Study Scholarships (15-20% Tuition worth) for deserving students are available.

We offer referral rewards ($501.00) for any referral that becomes a VaYU student. Dec. 7th is the next virtual open house.
